To Know Steve Lonegan is to Say No Steve Lonegan

19 Jun

Guest Column: Scott St. Clair

Purported conservative Steve Lonegan  is running for the U.S. Senate in New Jersey. I know Steve Lonegan. I worked for Steve Lonegan. I’ve seen Steve Lonegan in action, including the way he treats people.   I wouldn’t vote for Steve Lonegan if he was the last and only candidate on the planet.

Steve Lonegan: political huckster

14 Jun

“On the House side, John Boehner intends to prove the crony capitalist critique of the GOP correct.  He’ll vote for a bloated farm bill that subsidizes, funds, and kicks back whole industries that could not exist but for the congressional porkers in Washington.”

That was Eric Erickson, in this morning’s RedState.  Yesterday afternoon, there was another GOP crony capitalism lovefest here in New Jersey.

Republican primary voters have a choice to make

12 Jun

When he ran for Governor in 2005, Steve Lonegan finished in fourth place.  Then he took a job with Americans for Prosperity and outside money flowed into New Jersey.  With AFP’s money, Steve Lonegan did some good things for the conservative movement in New Jersey, but along the way it became more about Steve Lonegan and less about the movement.

Alieta Eck for US Senate

07 Jun

I have known Dr. Eck since I ran for governor in 1997.  Dr. Eck and her husband Dr. John Eck have been saving lives at her nonprofit health center in Somerset County at no cost to taxpayers. The Ecks are compassionate, caring physicians who have lived the life the Founders envisioned for America, people helping people without the heavy hand of government reaching into people’s pockets.  I have donated to their center since it was established.

Petitions are available to be signed in Dr. Eck’s office, today Friday (9-5 PM)  and Saturday– (9-2 PM);  Office address:  1056 Stelton Rd., Piscataway, NJ 08854.  Registered Republicans and Independents can sign.

Below is her press release announcing her candidacy.  If you can collect signatures, download the form and instructions, http://nj.gov/state/elections/index.html.    You need to witness the signatures and have the form notarized. Please call Dr. Eck as soon as you collect your signatures so they can be picked up well before the Monday 4pm deadline.

New Jersey Physician

Announces Bid for Senate

Contact: Alieta Eck, MD; eckmds@gmail.com(732) 463-0303

For Immediate Release
June 7, 2013 – Somerset, NJ

Supporters of New Jersey physician leader, Alieta Eck, MD, are collecting nomination petition signatures, ahead of the Monday afternoon deadline, in an effort to have her name included on the August 2013 Senate primary ballot of the Republican Party.

Dr. Eck issued the following statement:

“I have been a practicing physician in Piscataway, NJ for the past 30 years along with my husband, Dr. John Eck. Ten years ago we founded the Zarephath Health Center as a way to provide medical care to the poor and uninsured without involving the taxpayers. Using the donated services of physicians, nurses and support staff, we now see 300-400 patients per month at a cost of only $13 per patient visit. The patients are not charged anything, but can leave a donation if they choose. We are funded by the generosity of good people who care. Nearby, volunteers distribute food and clothing to those who have fallen onto hard times. We always strive to have the people leave with their spirits uplifted, knowing that there are many people who care.

“I have been involved in health care reform since my residency in Internal Medicine in New Brunswick, NJ. I have observed the waste in the government plans, seeing the despair of patients who cannot find a physician and the frustration of physicians who cannot work under the paperwork burden. I studied the Medicaid system and found that we in NJ spend $13 billion/year on Medicaid while our entire NJ budget is $33 billion. Where in the world is that money going?

“I have been a member of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) since my residency, became a Board member a few years ago, and served as its President in 2012. Our mission is to preserve the private patient-physician relationship. I am convinced that the Affordable Care Act will tear our healthcare system apart, adding layers and layers of administrators and IRS agents to what is already too expensive. How will this save money or increase access to care?

“I view the Constitution as a document created by men who envisioned a government where its leaders would be citizen legislators, pulled from every walk of life to serve for a time and then return to the private sector. The role of the federal government was to preserve liberty. This vision vaulted this country into prosperity, making it the envy of the world. In recent decades, the concentration of power in the central government has corrupted the process. I would like to see this trend reversed. A smaller government would be easier to monitor and would allow more people to keep their hard earned money and enjoy the ‘blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity.’

To work toward these ends, I would like to become a Senator representing my lifelong home State of New Jersey.”

Seig Heil to Obama’s Amerika

06 Jun

No explanation is needed. Brought to you by both major political parties. Fascism has arrived under the guise of national security.

My parents decided to come to America in 1949 so they and their sons would live in peace and freedom. Another generation of Sabrins will have to defeat fascism…this time in America.

We must speak out forcefully and often. This descent into the abyss has to be reversed. Otherwise, the Statue of Liberty should be torn down.

James Madison warned us 200 years ago,  “If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.”

Murray Sabrin, son of Holocaust survivors
