Why the Brexit vote is important

23 Jun

Big government is anti-liberty.  Period.  Jeff Deist explains it.

Decentralization and devolution of state power is always a good thing, regardless of the motivations behind such movements.

LGBT gun rights group sees membership skyrocket after Orlando shooting

21 Jun

Unfortunately, it takes a tragedy for people to appreciate their Second Amendment rights. The right to self defense is a basic human right.  Members of the LBGT community are realizing that police protection is largely a myth.  Self protection is a must.

When Dylan West discovered the Pink Pistols Atlanta chapter on Facebook in early 2015, he knew it was a perfect fit.

Be careful what you wish for: the logic of “equality”–more government coercion

18 Jun

The United States Senate voted to pass a defense bill today that would require young women to sign up for a potential military draft for the first time in U.S. history. A female Air Force veteran explains why this vote was deeply immoral.

Democrats: the party of death

17 Jun

The Democratic Party controls both houses of the New Jersey state legislature. Yesterday, in a procedural maneuver, the Democrats prevented Gov. Christie from reducing the onerous requirements to legally carry a firearm in the state. Although the Democrats are congratulating themselves for blocking Gov. Christie’s desire give New Jersey firearms owners the right to protect themselves and their families in public, the obvious take away from the Democrats’ actions are simple: they do not want people to be able to defend themselves in public venues like Orlando nightclub where 49 innocent souls were defenseless because it was “gun free zone”. Gun free zones are invitations to any one bent on committing mass murder.

The UN Declaration of Human Rights agrees…

16 Jun

…the right to self defense is a fundamental human right.  Owning a firearm is the best way to protect, your life, liberty and person.  Members of the LGBT community should do what is legally necessary to protect their lives, and be uncompromising defenders of the Second Amendment.

Article 3.

“Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.”

Liberty transcends race and ethnicity

06 Jun

A letter in today’s Record (Bergen County, NJ) sets the record straight, libertarianism is not a philosophy for only white people.

Libertarians appeal to all

Regarding “Libertarians could hurt candidate, but whom?” (Other Views, June 1):

The Op-Ed article by Bloomberg News Columnist Albert Hunt stated “there probably wouldn’t be much support for Libertarians among Latinos and African-Americans…”

What a patronizing and misguided statement. Is Hunt suggesting that individual liberty has no appeal to minority voters? Racial and ethnic minorities have to deal with government interference in their lives on a daily basis just like everyone else and perhaps more so.

Racial profiling of minorities is a direct outgrowth of the “war on drugs” which we Libertarians would end. Your life and body belong to you, not the state. That idea is the basis of what our country is supposed to be all about.

The Libertarian Party and movement are both based on the idea that we are all individuals — regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender choice or orientation. Our party and movement is open to all and always has been. If you’re for freedom, we’re for you.

Muhammad Ali’s libertarian stance against the Vietnam War and the draft

06 Jun

The death of Muhmmad Ali has led to an enormous outpouring of tributes–and some critical observations because he was a “draft dodger.”   A military draft is nothing more than the government engaging in involuntary servitude, i.e., slavery.  Tom Mullen sets the record straight.

“America awoke today to the sad news that boxing legend Muhammad Ali has passed away. And while the overwhelming majority of public remembrances will be praiseworthy, there are still those who have never forgiven Ali for his refusal to comply with the military draft in the 1960s. Even his archrival, Smokin’ Joe Frazier, resorted to calling Ali a “draft dodger.”

Booker versus Lonegan: why US senators should not be elected

07 Oct

After watching the first debate between Newark Mayor Cory Booker and former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan, it is crystal clear that Booker is an unapologetic collectivist and Steve Lonegan is an intellectual lightweight.  In addition, watching these two candidates for United States Senate insult each other confirms what critics of the 17th amendment have argued, that US senators should not be elected directly by the people but appointed by state legislatures, the way senators had originally been appointed to the United States Congress until the progressive era reforms of the early 20th century.

Cory Booker: Not ready for prime time or the US Senate

04 Sep

This story says it all.  Booker cannot talk about US aggression against Syria?  Because….?  Booker is just another career politician looking for another gig in the government apparatus of coercion, spying and massive legalized theft via the income tax and the Federal Reserve.

Steve Lonegan’s trivial—and imploding–campaign

29 Aug

Steve Lonegan’s campaign is imploding faster than a sinkhole in Florida. Instead of focusing on the major issues of the day–Obama’s probable military attack on Syria, the NSA spying program on the American people, the Federal Reserve’s unconscionable money printing, the unsustainable federal budget, the reckless federal government expansion into health care known as ObamaCare, and dozens of other issues–Lonegan is getting press for his critique of Cory Booker’s handling of crime in Newark and his remarks about the mayor’s sexual orientation.

Chris Christie’s 2016 game plan

16 Aug

In a closed-door meeting with the Republican National Committee in Boston on August 15, Chris Christie laid out the template of how the Republicans can capture the White House in 2016. According to the Wall Street Journal, Christie made the case for “a pragmatic form of conservatism.”  In other words, Christy is signaling he does not hold any deeply held beliefs, and that his current huge lead over Democrat gubernatorial nominee Barbara Buono in this year’s New Jersey race shows how he can attract women and minorities in a state where Barack Obama easily beat Mitt Romney in the 2012 presidential election.

Alieta Eck’s remarkable campaign

14 Aug

Despite losing to perennial candidate Steve Lonegan in the Republican United States Senate primary on August 13, first-time candidate Dr. Alieta Eck garnered 21% of the vote.  With virtually no statewide name recognition and a paltry campaign war chest, Alieta received nearly 30,000 votes.
