In the free market blogosphere, Governor Christie has been pilloried on two of the most read pro liberty websites for his support of price gouging laws—and rightfully so, while the Star-Ledger proudly cheers him on, citing his leadership during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

Some of my opening prepared remarks: “Why the federal government creates Ponzi schemes”
Some observations before I begin:
There are no tax loopholes; there are deductions, exemptions and credits in the tax code. A loophole is a political word.
Herbert Hoover was not a laissez faire president; federal spending increased, taxes increased, the Federal Reserve boosted the money supply, government got bigger and unemployment skyrocketed under HH. Dems have been successfully running against HH for the wrong reasons. FDR was the fiscal conservative in the 1932 presidential campaign. FDR expanded the HH’s expansion of federal government power. Result: depression lasted for more than a decade.
Clinton warns the Dems
Corey Booker…wants the “wealthy to pay their fair share”
At the Democratic convention, Newark mayor Corey Booker’s call for higher taxes on the wealthy so the federal government can spend more on welfare programs is emblematic of the morally bankrupt ideology of the Democratic party. Shamelessly, Booker is another example of why most politicians are nothing more than slick Willie Suttons.
This explains it all
This headline, Smoking marijuana regularly as a teen may lower IQ scores as an adult, explains why Congress does what it does…
Romney-Ryan perpetuate the welfare-warfare state
In an op-ed, “Romney-Ryan worldview: Reaganism on steroids,” Joseph Chuman, leader of the Ethical Culture Society of Bergen County, makes more economic fallacies and historical inaccuracies than you can shake a stick at. President Reagan’s fiscal conservatism was all rhetoric. Spending skyrocketed under the Gipper and taxes, especially payroll taxes, were hiked to “save” Social Security.
The SCOTUS: You have arrived—the end of the road to serfdom
Yes America, the Supreme Court decided in a 5-4 decision to uphold Obamacare. The Court ruled that the federal government can force you to purchase something you may not want and compel you to pay a penalty (the Obama administration’s argument) if you don’t and still be constitutional because it is a tax (the SCOTUS rationale).
Rabbi Shmuley’s congressional candidacy: is it “kosher”?
On Tuesday June 5th, Rabbi Shmuley Boteach easily won the Republican primary in the Ninth Congressional District. The rabbi will now square off against eight term congressman Bill Pascrell who trounced his long-time colleague Steve Rothman. Rothman moved into the newly configured 9th CD rather than face Republican Rep. Scott Garrett whose new 5th CD now incorporates towns Rothman represents in the current 9th CD.

Review of How to Win America for Ron Paul and the Cause of Freedom in 2012 by Allan Stevo
Allan Stevo has written an comprehensive campaign blueprint for liberty candidates. Stevo lays out practical advice for Ron Paul supporters and future liberty candidates who believe winning elections will help restore freedom in America. Unfortunately, it was published too late for this presidential cycle. Stevo’s primer may have had a greater impact this year if it was published in mid-2011.
Ron Paul, the Supreme Court, Obamacare and Individual Liberty
How did it get this far? Even a naturalized citizen like me and tens of millions of others who took an oath to uphold the Constitution can clearly see that the United States is no longer a constitutional republic with limited powers. Article I Section 8, which enumerates the federal government’s powers, has been ignored by Congress and the Supreme Court for nearly two centuries. Congress has passed laws that presidents from both major parties have signed that egregiously expanded federal power.
Dr. Alieta Eck: The insights of Bastiat and its relevance to healthcare
Dr. Alieta Eck, president of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, argues that we need to embrace Frederic Bastiat’s insights why a free society demands a government of limited powers. Under such an arrangement, the people will use their income and resources to address the issues the advocates of big government assert can only be solved by intervention in many sectors of the economy, especially healthcare.
Open letter to Paul Krugman
Dear Paul:
I enjoyed reading your Friday (Feb, 23) column, “Romney’s Economic Closet.” You confirmed what many of we free market types have been asserting for months, namely that Mitt Romney is really one of your fellow travelers, a neo-Keynesian dressed up as an unrepentant free market guy. In other words, it takes a Keynesian to know a fellow Keynesian.
Guest column: Medicaid Is Mismanaged Tax Dollars
Alieta Eck, MD, President, Association of American Physicians and Surgeons
The essence of Government is power; and power, lodged as it must be in human hands, will ever be liable to abuse. James Madison.
When government controls health care, bureaucrats war against bureaucrats, medical care becomes a commodity, and the taxpayers pay dearly.
The federal government audited NJ Medicaid and determined that the state owes the federal government $145 million due to “mismanagement.” It claims that the state “improperly oversaw Medicaid patient-care services,” the part of Medicaid services involved in the “cleaning, grooming, bathing and shopping for patients” over three years beginning in 2004.
Ron Paul’s message is resonating
Despite finishing fourth in the South Carolina primary, Ron Paul was upbeat during his speech Saturday night, giving one of his finest presentations as a presidential candidate. Ron hit all the high notes about his campaign and reminded his supporters that the cause of liberty will not be won overnight; it is a multifaceted process. Educating people about crony capitalism, the FED, the federal budget and entitlements, civil liberties, and our interventionist foreign policy so they will vote for the liberty presidential candidate may take more time than just this presidential campaign.
