According to a recent AP story, nearly half of American households do not pay any federal income taxes. In other words, half of the American people have been liberated from the worst form of legal plunder the federal government can impose on the people. The federal income tax should-must-be abolished for all Americans. That’s what I advocated in my 1995 book, Tax Free 2000.

Dishonest ads from the NJEA and the CWA
The New Jersey Teachers Association is running a television ad asserting that Governor Christie has “given” tax cuts to “millionaires’ instead of fully funding state aid to local school districts. The ad featuring New Jersey’s Teacher of the Year is long on rhetoric and short on the facts. First, the governor cannot cut anyone’s taxes. Tax bills can be passed by the legislature and then signed by the governor. For taxes to be cut or raised both the legislative and executive branches have to agree to a change in the tax code. Neither branch of government can unilaterally raise or lower taxes.
Libraries, Netflix and the collapsing public sector
Librarians are bemoaning the plight of their libraries because of the state’s fiscal crisis. Supposedly, the public will be shortchanged if Governor Christie’s budget cuts are implemented, even though libraries are providing great services…for free! So-called free government services is one of the most widespread myths perpetuated by not only librarians, teachers and school administrators but anyone who asserts that the government provides services for ‘free.”
Desperate states–from coast to coast
The New York Times reported on its front page (March 28) that states from coast to coast “are considering new taxes on virtually everything: garbage pickup, dating services, bowling night, haircuts, even clowns” to generate more revenue to maintain the record level of spending throughout the country.
Obamacare will lead to “death panels”
President Obama signed his healthcare “reform” bill Tuesday. The landmark law has been hailed as one of the most important pieces of legislation in the history of the Republic. Proponents of Obamacare assert that after more than a hundred years of trying, finally, the federal government is guaranteeing virtually all Americans the right to healthcare. How to lower unemployment permanently
Without a strategic plan to tackle the key issues affecting the U.S. economy, the clueless members of Congress, except for a handful of representatives led by Ron Paul, will create more and more gimmicks to the deal with the loss of more the 8 million jobs since the recession began two years ago.
Mises and Hayek were right: entitlements + easy money = the road to serfdom
According to a Washington Times article, “American reliance on government at all time high,” the Great Recession and America’s comprehensive welfare state has given us this astonishing fact: “… for the first time since the Great Depression, Americans took more aid from the government than they paid in taxes. ” In short, America has become a nation of consumers and not producers. The scales have been tipped…for now. The American people’s living standards and our economic liberties are in grave jeopardy. Read the rest of this entry »
Frank Rich, Ron Paul and the battle for the soul of America
In his Sunday New York Times column, Frank Rich tries to belittle and defames Congressman Ron Paul, because Dr. Paul wants to shrink the size and scope of the federal government. By lumping the former 2008 GOP presidential candidate with the pro-war 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee, Sarah Palin, and militaristic talking head Glenn Beck, who delivered a sharp rebuke of the GOP in his CPAC speech more than a week ago, Rich reveals his true colors: an unapologetic supporter of the welfare-warfare state.
Rep. Ron Paul easily wins CPAC straw poll…. God bless George W. Bush and Barack Obama
Texas congressman and 2008 GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul won the 2012 presidential straw poll at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference yesterday, easily beating Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin and the other presidential wannabes. More than half of the attendees were under 25, which means they have been reading about economics, money and banking, the Fed, foreign policy and the U.S. constitution. In other words, they have immersed themselves in the freedom philosophy, unlike their elders and the political hacks who occupy positions of power within the GOP and serve in Congress. America’s second bankruptcy is coming!
America’s second bankruptcy in less than four decades is on the horizon.
The first bankruptcy occurred on a Sunday evening (August 15, 1971), when President Nixon closed the “gold window.” In effect, Nixon told foreign holders of dollars they could no longer redeem their greenbacks for gold at the official rate of $35 per ounce. Read the rest of this entry »
Presidents’ Day
Why do we celebrate U.S. Presidents on Monday, February 15? Virtually all of them supported legal plunder, undermined free enterprise and increased the federal government’s power over the American people.
Instead, we should celebrate Bill of Rights Day in December, Ludwig von Mises’s birthday in September, Murray Rothbard’s birthday in March, Henry Hazlitt’s birthday in November, and the birthdays of all the great defenders of free enterprise and individual liberty.
