Government violence: the real evil in the world

11 Jan

Before I sat down to write this essay I checked, as I always do every morning, www.lewrockwell.com to see what some of the best columnists on the web had to say about national and world events.  Today, their analysis of the reactions of the political class and the pundits on talk radio and cable television to the shootings in Tucson did not disappoint.

Willie Sutton economics: rob the rich to balance the budget

04 Jan

According to a recent “60 Minutes”/Vanity Fair poll, 61% of Americans want to raise taxes on the “rich” to balance the budget.  The next popular option is reducing defense spending.  Cutting Medicare or Social Security is not very popular.  Less than five percent of those polled want to reduce the federal government’s Ponzi schemes.

When is a Ponzi scheme “not” a Ponzi scheme? When the government runs it.

03 Jan

The first wave of baby boomers turned 65 on 1/1/11, making them eligible for Medicare, joining their parents, aunts and uncles and other relatives in one of the greatest Ponzi schemes created by any government.  Instead of acknowledging that it is running a Ponzi scheme that is trillions of dollars in the hole, the federal government’s propaganda continues to extol the virtues of a government health insurance program that kicks in for its citizens when they turn 65 years old.

The thugs, misguided and parasites rule America

01 Jan

If you have high blood pressure, you do not want to read Steven Malanga’s Shakedown:  The Continuing Conspiracy Against the American Taxpayer, unless you have taken a mega dose of your medication.

Tax cuts, the federal budget and the case for zero taxation

18 Dec

President Obama signed a bill on Friday extending the current tax rates for another two years.  The tax bill also reduces an employee’s payroll tax rate by 2% for one year and extends unemployment benefits for 13 months.  However, the bill will not help the long-term unemployed who have exhausted their benefits.  In addition, several tax breaks scheduled to expire on December 31 will continue into 2011. The rich are different from you and me…they are dumber

11 Dec

Apparently, a group of wealthy Americans thinks extending the so-called Bush tax cuts is a bad idea.  Calling themselves, ready, “Patriotic Millionaires for Fiscal Strength,” they have written an open letter to the President pleading for tax rates to increase on January 1 for individuals earning more than one million dollars per year.

A proposal to restore liberty and free enterprise

09 Dec

The following is an overview of  my presentation to both the Middlesex County Tea Party and Americans for Liberty this month.  The title of my talk is “How to get from here—big government—to there—limited government.”  The talk contains suggestions to end the welfare-warfare state and replace it with a constitutional republic.  At the end of the talk I suggest several books and essays for the attendees so they can become better spokespersons for the freedom philosophy. I am available to give this presentation to your association, group, wedding party, etc.

How to restore liberty

04 Dec

The following is an outline of the introductory remarks I made to the Middlesex County Tea Party meeting on December 2nd.  In the rest of my remarks I discuss how to phase out Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and restore the federal government to its constitutional foundation.   To hear how can have a limited government in America ASAP,  join me at the next meeting of Americans for Liberty on December 7th in Parsippany.  Please visit Americans for Liberty for details of my talk.  Hope to see Tuesday.

This is the government we have chosen

13 Nov

One of the most memorable lines in American cinema occurred on a balcony in a Havana hotel on the eve of the Cuban Revolution.  On the balcony Hyman Roth, an elderly gangster, is speaking to Michael Corleone about making an “investment” in Cuba, as rebel forces are challenging the regime of Dictator Fulgencio Batista, days before Fidel Castro takes over Havana on January 1, 1959.  At this meeting of several Mafia chieftains, Roth says to Michael, “This is the business (crime) we have chosen.”

The welfare state implosion is accelerating

11 Nov

Students have rioted in England because college and university tuition is poised to take another leap upward.  Higher education tuition as late as the 1990s was zero.  To help balance the national budget the Conservative government of Prime Minister Cameron     is slashing welfare subsidies and increasing the cost of government services.  In short, financial reality is catching up to the British government and its people.

Guest Column: Dr. Alieta Eck

08 Nov

If ObamaCare is Bad, What Would Be Better? By Dr. Alieta Eck, http://www.aapsonline.org

ObamaCare is a wildly unpopular law for anyone who knows anything about health care.  The election proved that.  Physicians came together in Washington, DC to film the following national ad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPwEVXstFdA&feature=youtube_gdata_player Perhaps it is time for the politicians to admit that the government cannot provide health care.  Period.

Self-financed candidates could have used their money to provide health care for the uninsured

06 Nov

In the past decade, self-financed candidates, Michael Bloomberg, Jon Corzine, Meg Whitman, Linda McMahon and countless others spent collectively nearly one billion dollars to run for political office.  Mayor Bloomberg spent $250 million to win three terms as mayor of New York City.  Jon Corzine spent $131 million to win a U.S. Senate seat, the governorship of New Jersey and then failed in his reelection bid in 2009 despite out spending his rival Chris Christie by more than $12 million.

Now what? A Tea Party Summit for December 15

04 Nov

The American people spoke loud and clear on Election Day—the federal government has overreached.  Tea Party candidates were successful in many House races, allowing the GOP to pick up more than 60 seats, while in the battle for the Senate, Tea Party candidates lost in Nevada, Colorado and Delaware, depriving the GOP of the 51 seats needed to take over the upper chamber.

Will Tea Party candidate Anna Little lead the way on Tuesday?

30 Oct

The outcome of the Anna Little/ Frank Pallone race in the sixth congressional district will set the tone of the Tea Party’s strength around the country.   If Anna Little wins the House seat, there is a high probability that Republicans could win as many as 100 seats on Tuesday.   If Little loses by one or two points, Republicans should pick up at least 70 seats.  This race is in so many ways a bellwether for the rest of the nation.

When will the U.S. dollar collapse?

28 Oct

The Federal Reserve has created more than a trillion dollars in the past few years.  The last two federal budgets have had back-to-back one trillion dollar plus deficits for the first time in history.  The federal government budget shows no signs of stabilizing at more than $3.5 trillion annually, let alone declining from these nose bleed levels anytime soon.  Unfunded liabilities of the federal government have reached an astonishing $202 trillion, according to one recent analysis.  Despite the collapse of the Soviet Union and the supposed “peace benefit,” total military spending is reaching unprecedented levels in a post Cold War era.  Read the rest of this entry »
