After watching the ABC sponsored debate last night, there is only one conclusion any objective observer can draw, the GOP presidential nomination is now a two man race between Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich. Gingrich has surged to the top of the polls like others before him who then faded faster than a shooting star. Gingrich’s poll numbers will take a hit as the Ron Paul surge continues, which will plateau above the other candidates in many upcoming contests beginning in Iowa and New hamprhisre early in January.
At Saturday’s debate Ron Paul had a breakthrough performance. The Texas congressman was clear, articulate, personable, and received compliments from Rick Perry and Mitt Romney. In addition, when Ron was asked a question about government involvement in healthcare, the audience cheered his response about personal responsibility. None of the other candidates opposed anything Ron said.
In question after question, Ron gave the free market and limited government answer. He educated the audience about the Federal Reserve as the cause of the financial bubble. In addition, Ron did not pander, calling for ending U.S. meddling in the Middle East.
Here is the video of Ron Paul’s responses.
